Merino wool brings style and performance together. It is a natural fibre that comes from merino sheep in New Zealand. There are many natural benefits of merino wool; it is moisture-wicking, insulating, temperature-regulating, odour-resistant. It also does not itch, is anti-pill and wrinkle resistant.
Keeping you warm when it is cold and vice versa, merino wool is the perfect fabric as the seasons change and the weather swings from warm to cold. Often it is used as a base layer given the exceptional qualities listed above but equally, it works brilliantly as an outer layer. The drape of the fabric and timeless elegance has inspired Untouched World to develop a stunning Merino collection for AW19. This is in the same contemporary style with which they have perfected their Possum Merino collection for which they are internationally renowned.
The Merino Wool used by Untouched World is ‘easy care’ and not only is it incredibly soft but it is machine washable and resistant to pilling. Due to the elastic properties, it is exceptionally comfortable and will move and stretch with your body and yet will keep its shape. At a microscopic level, each Merino wool fibre is like a coiled spring that returns to its natural shape after being bent. This gives Merino wool garments a natural resistance to wrinkles.
To complete the cycle, when Merino is disposed of, it will naturally decompose in soil in a matter of years, slowly releasing valuable nutrients back into the earth, and as sheep product a new fleece every year, it’s a completely renewable fibre.
