After many years in England we are immensely proud of all things British and thrilled to see Princess Anne in New Zealand for her latest Royal tour.
Even more so when she took time out of her official schedule to visit Untouched World for a private tour with her husband, Sir Timothy Lawrence. Our wonderful CEO of Untouched World, Peri Drysdale said that, “to have a private visit with such a globally recognised senior royal member is really special”. “Princess Anne is the President of the UK fashion and textile association and is very interested in sustainable fashion. Our team was very impressed by her knowledge of the industry.”
The Princess Royal has been a long-term advocate for sustainability and slow fashion. During her visit to Christchurch, she also met with farmers from Canterbury’s Glenthorne Station, where Untouched World source their merino, who talked about their regenerative farming practices . The Princess was described by Peri as being “fascinated by wool and fibres and was particularly curious about the research and development taking place”.
Princess Anne, along with several other members of the Royal Family including King Charles, the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Harry, have been long-term supporters of Untouched World and their ethos as a world leader in sustainable fashion, making the world a better place. Reflecting on the visit, and the brand’s association with the Royal family, Drysdale said “The Royal family, amongst others, have helped draw attention to the sustainable work we’re doing here. That plays a big role in helping us achieve our goals at Untouched World.”
“It’s not easy to get noticed globally from here in New Zealand. It is important therefore to not miss an opportunity to get our garments into the hands of people with influence, the feedback we consistently hear from them is that people see what we are doing as emblematic of New Zealand; green, sustainable, and progressive. They want to celebrate and support our ethos.”
Untouched World is the first and only lifestyle fashion company in the world to be recognised by the United Nations for sustainability. Every aspect of the life cycles is carefully considered, from sustainably grown fibres, to our GOTS certified organic dyes and water based prints. They also keep water use to a minimum and maximise recycling and waste recovery. Most importantly Untouched World has set up several trusts and organisations to help give back to our planet and people. At Untouched World, every one person can make a difference and undoubtedly, this is what Peri Drysdale has achieved and has been endorsed by the Princess Royal.
